Telecom shelters, wellheads, pipeline valve stations, remote camps and trailheads all have the same problem: light is needed where the grid is not. The PL and WP Series run directly on 24V DC from a solar and battery system.
Running an inverter to feed an AC fixture at a remote site adds a conversion loss, a failure point and a maintenance visit. Every watt the fixture wastes is another panel and another battery to freight in.
The 24V DC option on the PL and WP Series takes the battery bus directly, with reverse-polarity and under-voltage protection built in, so the luminaire works with the system's low-voltage disconnect instead of fighting it. High efficacy and a time-of-night dimming profile keep the battery bank small, and the -40 C rating matters more here than anywhere, because the battery is cold too.
Sized to the site. The planner estimates battery and panel capacity from the fixture count and winter sun hours.
Pick off-grid in the planner. It sizes the nightly watt-hours, the battery bank at 50 percent depth of discharge and the winter panel wattage from the fixture count.
Nominal 24V DC. Wider input windows are confirmed per project, so the planner asks for the bus voltage.
